November 25th, the day every Gilmore fan has been waiting for, Netflix has released a four-part event ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life’. Nine years after the show aired its final episode Amy Sherman-Palladino (creator and masterful writer of the show) has revived it with four ninety minute episodes travelling through Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn.
It is safe to assume any established Gilmore fan will be watching these episodes on repeat. But if you have no idea what I am talking about then let me enlighten you.The show follows the lives of mother and daughter, Lorelai Gilmore, a sparky mother and inn-keeper played by Lauren Graham, and Rory Gilmore, a precocious sixteen-year old daughter dreaming of attending Harvard, played by Alexis Bledel. On paper this doesn’t sound all too appealing but the fast dialogue and pop culture references mean that there is never a dull moment. The Gilmores live in a quirky town called Stars Hollow with the likes of Miss Patty, Taylor Doose and, of course, Kirk. The Gilmores seem like the sane alternative and the town is always buzzing with a new ridiculous problem for one resident or another. Endearingly realistic, it will make you laugh, cry and love all the unique characters. With seven seasons to catch up on and the eighth just out, you have more than enough to binge on this month!
