The day arrived and the Swansea University Ladies varsity squad were up early ready to get the bus to Cardiff. The girls were excited for the day ahead, trying to suppress any nerves that were bubbling to the surface. Music was playing in the changing rooms while the girls were getting kitted up, trying to treat this match like any other they’ve played this season. The team walked out on the pitch surrounded by a sea of red and green tops cheering for their respective sides. The game started and as anticipated it was a competitive game with chances at either end from the get go. Cardiff went 2 goals ahead and a goal by Swansea in the closing stages was unfortunately too late to get back into the match. As much as the squad were disappointed, it was important they held their heads high and focussed on supporting the men’s team in their match afterwards.
